I am thinking it is all linked to the new job. MIL floating away is a sign of insecurity... maybe you don't have enough faith in your abilities... your subconscious is saying you can stand up. As for giving birth to a plastic doll it is too linked to your new job and the fact that new life (symbolised by baby) ahead seems fake or surreal.
